District 62 Toastmasters
Serving the State of Michigan
HAPPPPYYY NEW YEAR!
Toastmasters New Year that is!
July is a month for new beginnings and revitalization of our members and clubs. The District has a full slate of District Officers which includes nine (9) Administrative positions, five (5) Division and nineteen (19) Area Governors to serve the membership and keep everyone up-dated on the latest information, Toastmaster Leadership Institute (TLI’s) Trainings, Division and Area Contests and the Spring and Fall Conferences.
My theme this year is “Conceive – Believe – Achieve. I see great things for District 62! My goal is to help more Clubs become Distinguished Clubs. If we/you are truly serving our membership, we will accomplish one Distinguished Club Program requirement at a time. I see District 62 becoming a Distinguished District this year.
With the Four (4) Critical Success factors in the forefront the District will strive to keep the membership working together to reach our individual Toastmaster goals, one goal at a time! What are the critical success factors by which Toastmasters International measures our service to our members you ask…..1) the number of clubs in the District, 2) the membership and payments, 3) the number of Competent Communicator awards achieved and finally 4) the number of Advanced Communicator awards achieved.
As you look to your own Club and members using these four (4) critical success factors you will know if, and how you are helping your members use their Competent Communicator, Advanced Communicator and Competent Leader manuals. Are YOU, as an Officer leading by example? Are YOU positive, enthusiastic, supportive? Your members will follow your example! Are YOU encouraging the members to give manual speeches, volunteer to fill meeting roles, be a Speech Contestant, assist with Contests, and Toastmaster Leadership Institute (TLI) trainings in one way or another?
Approximately 170 Club Officers attended the June 19th Toastmaster Leadership Institute (TLI) training and are prepared to take their knowledge, skills and the latest information back to their Clubs and hold successful Planning meetings to start their New Year off on the right track. Other Toastmaster Leadership Institute (TLI) make-up trainings are being scheduled. It is a Toastmaster proven fact that the Club Officers who have attended the TLI’s share this information to set their Club goals and encourage their membership. And, are the very Clubs who become Distinguished, Select Distinguished and President’s Distinguished Clubs!
Please log on to the District web site for dates, times, location and other details for each Division TLI at: www.62toast.com. This web site and the Toastmaster International web site: www.toastmasters.org are the two (2) most important web sites to keep you “in the know” and what is happening within the District! Visit often. Another important web site is your own Club “Freetoasthost” web site. Do you have one? Is it being up-dated? Is it informative and inviting? Viewing your “Freetoasthost” web site…would a guest want to attend your meeting and join your Club? YOUR “Freetoasthost” web site is a vital key to building your membership. If you do not have a “Freetoasthost” web site and need help contact us immediately. There are Toastmasters who will help walk you through the whole process to set up your own Club web site.
