District 62 Toastmasters
Serving the State of Michigan

MARKETING & MOORE
I would like to wish all of District 62 a Happy New Year! I am very excited to work with all of you this year as your Lt. Governor of Marketing. For those of you who don't know me, I have been in Toastmasters for 4 years and belong to three clubs, Amway Soap Box Toastmasters, West Michigan Advanced Toastmasters, and Southwest Advanced Toastmasters.
Are you new to Toastmasters? Are you just visiting the site? Let me tell you how Toastmasters can help you.
Toastmasters can help you in both your professional life as well as your personal life. How?
Toastmasters helped me obtain a promotion at work that I have been working on for years. My supervisor feels that the skills and tools I now have helps me represent our department in meetings, conduct myself in a very professional manner, and has improved my speaking and leadership skills to a point that she wishes others would follow my lead. I thank Toastmasters for helping me with this growth and would highly recommend anyone to join just for this reason alone.
It has also helped me in my personal life.
I wanted to give a speech at my Mother’s 60th Birthday party. I even practiced it in front of my Toastmasters Club. I was ready for this speech and knew it was going to be a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. At Toastmasters the speeches can be fun, informational, inspirational, but they are always welcomed professionally. Not so in my family though. I was giving the speech about my Mother and how she grew up, her teenage years, meeting my Father, having her children, her grandchildren, etc. and it didn’t go as easy as I thought. I was constantly interrupted by family members wanting to put in their two cents worth as well. What I learned from this experience is that you should never assume that you know everything about public speaking, whether it’s in a professional arena or a family arena. There is always room to grow.
Toastmasters can teach you how to write a speech, deliver a speech, and even how to take criticism of your speech. It really is worth your while to join up. I know it was for me.
Now, current members you are probably wondering what my goals are for this year. I want to build District 62 to become a stronger and well known organization. How will I do this?
First, I would like to see us open at least one new club per area as well as opening more clubs in the northern part of
Now, the biggest question, what's in it for you? Well, did you know that you need to be a new club sponsor, new club mentor or a club coach to obtain your Advanced Leader Silver award? Yep, that's right. That's what's in it for you. But, more importantly, you will grow right along with the clubs. I promise you, you won't regret a minute of doing this. It is a very rewarding opportunity and I hope you will step up to this challenge.
As I mentioned earlier, I am very excited to work with all of you this year as your Lt. Governor of Marketing. Let's make this a year to remember.
Together, we can make District 62 stronger than ever!
